"Psychologists have scientifically proven that one of the greatest contributing factors to overall happiness in your life is how much gratitude you show."
- In this video volunteers were given a test that measured their current level of happiness.
- Then they were asked to think of a person who was very influential in their lives.
- They were instructed to call that person and express their thoughts and feelings.
- Afterwards, they were given the same test but with the questions mixed up and rephrased.
The psychologists found that happiness increased between 2-19%.
The person who measured the most unhappy at the first test, experienced the biggest increase in happiness upon retesting.
Conclusion: "Expressing your gratitude WILL make you a happier person."
By expressing their gratitude to another person, they increased their overall happiness and also contributed to the happiness of the person they were talking to. That is encouraging as we work to retrain our brains and contribute to the positive mental health of society, overall.
